Petron, DENR, Bataan Provincial Government, Limay LGU, and SAMASAKA launch the 30-hectare Reforestation Project in Brgy. Duale, Limay, Bataan

Petron Corporation, together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), local government of Limay, Bataan Provincial Government, and SAMASAKA (Samahang Magsasaka sa Kabundukan ng Limay Bataan Inc.), officially launched the Puno ng Buhay 30-hectare Reforestation Program in Limay, Bataan.

A total of 100 Narra seedlings were planted, marking the first step towards the program’s long-term goal of restoring 30 hectares of upland forest within the Limay Watershed Rehabilitation site in Barangay Duale. The initiative aims to contribute to watershed protection, biodiversity restoration, and climate resilience in the area.

Petron Bataan Refinery officials, led by Vice President for Refinery Division Mr. Allister Go, along with Petron Limay Terminal Manager Mr. Francis Owen Oñate, were joined by Limay Municipal Mayor Richie Jason David, Vice Mayor Grace David, Mr. Raphael de Leon of the Bataan Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office, and SAMASAKA Chairman Jaime Dayap, in leading the ceremonial planting.

In his opening message, Mr. Go expressed gratitude to Petron’s partners and emphasized the importance of collective action in protecting the environment. He highlighted that the seedlings planted represent a legacy for future generations—cultivating change, one seedling at a time.

Mayor David, meanwhile, emphasized that the tree-planting activity is one step toward protecting our planet, fostering a greener and healthier community. For him, we are not just planting trees, we are also planting hope and responsibility.

Around 90 participants from various organizations joined the ceremonial planting. Also present during the event were Mr. Joselito Galicia from the Office of the Municipal Agriculture, Mr. Johnny Mandocdoc from MENRO, and Mr. Jose Bacolod from CENRO.

The initiative is part of Petron’s Puno ng Buhay program, the company’s flagship environmental sustainability effort focused on minimizing its ecological footprint through carbon capture and nature-based solutions. As a joint undertaking of Petron, DENR, Bataan Provincial Government and LGU-Limay, the program demonstrates Petron’s continuing commitment to environmental stewardship through a meaningful collaboration with local governments and host communities.
